Ai Robotics – Interview with Wu Ran COO
June 8, 2020
Ai Robotics Technology is a computer vision technology company. Our vision-based perception technology enables fully self-driving in geo-fenced premises. Users can attain level 4 autonomy by installing a self-driving kit that includes cameras, sensors, and our proprietary AI software.
Wu Ran, AiRobotics' COO says: "To locate and assemble a talented team with all these skills here is challenging as the homegrown talents in AI or pioneering engineering tend to move to places such as Silicon Valley as it is seen as a hub for companies where they can find a fit. Building companies like this here is one way to solve the gap. "
1. What is something about AI Robotics that the general public might not know about?
Ai Robotics is a deep-technology company that is building an AI engine to move robots. Therefore, it has to work with the latest inventions and developments in Artificial Intelligence as well as multiple disciplines of engineering. All of these elements need to come together and synchronise to make self-driving work. There are claims and promises of self-driving in the media which may lead the public to think that self-driving is in the near future which is far from reality.
2. What are some challenges you have faced in your work?
It is rare that such deep tech companies are found in this ecosystem, as of now. Our company requires experts in different fields of engineering and technology and some with the rarest of skills. To locate and assemble a talented team with all these skills here is challenging as the homegrown talents in AI or pioneering engineering tend to move to places such as Silicon Valley as it is seen as a hub for companies where they can find a fit. Building companies like this here is one way to solve the gap. Furthermore, the extent of effort and time required to build a deep technology product is underestimated here.
3. How has your experience with GeoWorks been?
Our experience has been great - not only has the facility provides a state-of-the-art facility for startups but it also proactively facilitates networking sessions which are essential for early stage companies and ventures.
4. How does geospatial technology help you in your work?
Geospatial information will be extensively used in our technology deployment. Knowing and using the latest developments is only going to be helpful to our work.
5. Are there any challenges that come with working with geospatial technology?
We require geospatial data management. There are excellent companies at Geo Works providing this solution.
6. In your opinion, what skills are needed to work in the geospatial industry?
Curiosity, independent thinking, and compassion.
7. Do you have any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?
Be ready to be and lead on your own - believing in your true calling when most around you may say that you are on an impossible mission.
