3D Singapore Sandbox

Singapore’s First Geospatially-Focused 3D Application Development Platform @ GeoWorks

The 3D Singapore Sandbox @ GeoWorks is a first-of-its-kind collaborative environment for industry partners and developers that aims to encourage the use of 3D geospatial data to develop and test new applications and services that can benefit both the public and private sectors. The Sandbox is located at GeoWorks, the geospatial industry centre first set up by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) in 2018 to promote business growth, drive innovation and foster a well-connected community of geospatial firms. The initial audience for the 3D Singapore Sandbox is expected to be from the real estate, logistics and construction industries.

The Sandbox will include 3D geospatial data such as 3D building models from SLA and private sector data from global data analytics providers such as LotaData, a GeoWorks GeoTech. On top of gaining access to these datasets, SLA will provide users with access to various geospatial tools from GeoWorks GeoPartners such as Autodesk, Bentley, ESRI and Hexagon. Access to the OneMap3D platform is also available.
GeoWorks currently hosts 43 companies, otherwise known as GeoMembers. These members consist of a combination of geospatial scale-ups and large established geospatial organisations that share expertise, network access and business opportunities for the whole geospatial industry.

The Sandbox is for:
  • Innovators, Entrepreneurs, Startups
  • Industry partners
  • Researchers
  • Developers
  • and More

3D Visualisation
Autodesk Civil 3D® civil engineering design software supports BIM (Building Information Modeling) with integrated features to improve drafting, design, and construction documentation.

InfraWorks® infrastructure design software supports Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes. Conceptualize, optimize, and visualize infrastructure projects — all in the context of the built and natural environment.

2D 3D GIS and Mapping software provider
OpenCities Map Enterprise helps you create and aggregate a 3D model of your assets. The application helps you to quickly add semantic information to features in your reality mesh and consume information from various design disciplines. OpenCities Map Enterprise includes high level capabilities to maintain your reality data and model your assets. The software also helps you to build a digital twin of the city and allows stakeholders of city departments to make well-informed decisions.

GIS Mapping Software
ArcGIS Enterprise is a complete platform that lets you make maps, analyse data, solve problems, and share geospatial data. In doing so, your data is visualised spatially to let you connect the dots and improve your business decisions.

Geospatial tools for geospatial analytics and solutions development
LuciadLightspeed allows users to fuse, visualize, and analyse geospatial data. This can include static and moving data, maps, satellite imagery, crowd-sourced data, full motion video, weather data, and terrain elevation in many different geodetic references and map projections. Geo-fencing, line-of-sight calculations, geo-triggered events, dynamic and complex route calculations, and automated anomaly detection are just a mouse click away.

People Intelligence
LOTaDATA offers “People Intelligence” as a service. Their CityDash.ai platform publishes fresh, accurate, anonymized and daily crowd-sourced data insights from GPS, Wi-Fi and Beacons, across 1450 cities on a global scale. LOTaDATA defines "People Intelligence" as an extension of geospatial AI for inferring people-presence, activity, and movement in the real world.

While LOTaDATA specializes in data insights for civic use cases, they also provide deep insights for retail customers, commercial real estate operators, hotels and hospitality businesses, banks and financial institutions, architecture and urban planners, consulting and research organizations, as well as academic institutions.

Q: What is the 3D Singapore Sandbox about?
A: The 3D Singapore Sandbox allows users to work on 3D geospatial datasets that has not been widely available before, using many of the industry-leading commercial geospatial software. The Sandbox aims to inspire developers and researchers to understand the use of 3D geospatial data in order to find new insights and applications.

Q: Where is 3D Singapore Sandbox located?
A: It is located at GeoWorks, located at 460 Alexandra Road, #07-01 PSA Building, Singapore 119963.

Q: Who can use the 3D Singapore Sandbox?
A: Innovators, entrepreneurs, start-ups, industry partners, researchers and developers are welcome to use the Sandbox for their own research and development.

Q: How long is each time slot?
A: Each timeslot is three hours long.

Q: How is the data stored and accessed?
A: The data will stored only on the workstations.

Q: What software will be available in the 3D Singapore Sandbox?
A: Four leading geospatial organisations have kindly provided their software for users to use. These organisations are Autodesk, Bentley, Esri and Hexagon Geospatial. LOTaDATA has also provided select ‘people movement’ data to the Sandbox.

Q: That sounds interesting. Where can we sign up?
A: You can sign up for your timeslot using the 3D Singapore Sandbox's booking system. Please use the link above. Please note that approval for use of the Sandbox is on a case-by-case basis, based on availability.

Q: Do we have to pay a fee for the usage of 3D Singapore Sandbox?
A: There is no charge for using the Sandbox at this time.
